“The Clam Chowder Cook-Off is one of the Boardwalk’s most popular events of the year,” said Kris Reyes, Boardwalk spokesperson. “Teams come from across Northern California to test their chowder recipes against the very best and our guests love the opportunity to make their voices heard about which chowders they like the most.”
Local celebrity judges will determine the best Manhattan and Boston Clam Chowders in Amateur and Professional categories. The public will help select the winners for People’s Choice and Most Tasted Clam Chowder. Prizes include cash, commemorative plaques, and bragging rights. The competition takes place rain or shine along the Boardwalk.
All proceeds from the Santa Cruz Clam Chowder Cook-Off benefit the City of Santa Cruz Parks and Recreation Department. For more information, please contact the Chowder Committee (831) 420-5273.
