March is Scout Month at the Boardwalk
SANTA CRUZ, CA (March 4, 2019) – The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is preparing to host more than a thousand Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts during 2 large overnight events in the Boardwalk’s Cocoanut Grove this March.
In a tradition that started in 2008, Scout groups are invited to visit the Boardwalk twice a year, with camping inside the Cocoanut Grove in the Spring and outside along the Boardwalk in the Fall. Activities include rides and arcade games, meals and a movie along with some traditional scouting programs and activities.
The popular overnight events have grown steadily since the Boardwalk first started offering them 11 years ago. Scout Days were offered in the 1980s, but overnights were not an option until 2008.
“The Cocoanut Grove is a large event facility with more than one hundred years of history,” said youth sales manager Bridgette Quartararo. “All kids love Boardwalk rides and games, so we’re really happy to share this once-in-a-lifetime experience with Northern California scouts.”
The Boardwalk’s Spring Girl Scout Overnight for Daisies, Brownies, Juniors, Cadettes and Seniors is March 8-9, 2019.
The Spring Boy Scout Overnight for Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Venturers is March 15-16, 2019.
