Santa Cruz, CA – The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk’s newest thrill ride is now open for daily operation. Located next to the Cave Train Adventure, the highly anticipated Vertigo 360 spins, soars, and thrills guests at the iconic seaside park. As part of the new installation, the popular kiddie ride Freefall has been relocated nearby and is also operating daily.
Manufactured in Italy by Zamperla Group, Vertigo 360 features a spacious circular gondola where 16 passengers face outward, their feet dangling below and secured by over-the-shoulder restraints. The ride simulates a pendulum motion, combining swinging and rotating movements. With each increasingly powerful swing, the gondola gradually reaches a full 360-degree rotation, delivering a uniquely exhilarating experience.
“Vertigo 360 provides our guests with a one-of-a-kind thrill,” said Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk spokesperson Kris Reyes. “We now offer a total of 40 rides at the Boardwalk—more than many larger amusement parks—and we couldn’t think of a better addition to our lineup than Vertigo 360.”
The newly relocated Freefall has been a favorite for young thrill-seekers-in-training since its debut in 2002. The ride launches riders upward before gently dropping them down, creating a fun, giggle-filled experience. Freefall is now located near Vertigo 360, close to its original location.
About the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk: Opened in 1907, the family-owned Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is a classic seaside amusement park featuring the historic 1924 Giant Dipper wooden roller coaster, the 1911 Looff Carousel, dozens of family-friendly rides and midway games, indoor arcades, and mini golf.
